體重過重的個案之中
有許多個案都有心理方面的困擾
其中最常見的兩大心理困擾
就是情緒低落(depression)與暴飲暴食(binge eating disorder)
根據1項統計調查發現
在非體重過重的族群之中
美國人有19%的比率有心理衛生方面的困擾 (參考文獻一)
其中大約8% 的族群有情緒低落的問題 (參考文獻2)
1%到5% 的族群有暴飲暴食的問題(參考文獻3)
但是
如果只統計接受減重手術的族群
有情緒問題低落的比率就高達的19%
有暴飲暴食習慣的比例則高達17%
可以說這兩種最常見的心理困擾
在減重手術族群中特別盛行 (參考文獻4)
相對來說
有這些情緒心理問題
不一定會影響減重手術的減重效果
在某些研究中認為有心理衛生問題的個案
仍然可以接受減重手術
獲得不錯的減重成效
更進一步來說
這些個案如果接受減重手術
體重下降之後
反而能夠有效改善他們的心理及情緒問題
讓他們獲得更佳的心理健康 (參考文獻4)
